HAVE FAITH AND BE HAPPY

Scripture:

"Just as the Father knows me and I know
the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep." -
John 10:15

Reflection:

Have faith and be happy! Jesus, our Savior,
laid down His life to wash away all of our sins.
No matter what is going on in your life, remember
that you have a Savior who loved you so much
that He died for you. Just so you could have
eternal life - hallelujah!

Prayer:

Thank you for being the Lord.  Thank you for
loving us so much that you died for us.  Now
because of your sacrifice and grace I will be
with You forever.
AMEN

SHALOM, SHALOM!

Scripture:

“I have seen their ways, but I will heal them;
I will guide them and restore comfort to Israel’s
mourners,creating praise on their lips.
Peace, peace, to those far and near,”
says the Lord. “And I will heal them.” — Isaiah 57:18–19

When we read the prophet’s words on
Yom Kippur, they deliver an encouraging
and relevant message to those in attendance.
No matter how distant a person may feel,
or how far they may have strayed from the
path of righteousness, God is still overjoyed
to see him. Everyone can stand comfortably
before the Lord knowing that their presence is
most welcome.

God never writes anyone off and it’s never too
late to return to the Lord. On the contrary. Our
heavenly Father anticipates our arrival with joy
in His heart and a warm greeting on His lips.
“Shalom, shalom!”

WHEN YOUR IN NEED

Scripture

When God's people are in need, be ready
to help them. Always be eager to practice
hospitality.
Romans 12:13, NLT

Reflection:

Christian hospitality differs from social
entertaining. Entertaining focuses on the
host--the home must be spotless; the food
must be well prepared and abundant; the
host must appear relaxed and good-natured.
Hospitality, by contrast, focuses on the
guests. Their needs--whether for a place to
stay, nourishing food, a listening ear, or
acceptance--are the primary concern.
Hospitality can happen in a messy home.
It can happen around a dinner table where
the main dish is canned soup. It can even
happen while the host and the guest are
doing chores together.

Don't hesitate to offer hospitality just
because you are too tired, too busy, or
not wealthy enough to entertain.

GOOD MORNING

Good Morning, this is GOD I will
be handling ALL your problems today.

Please remember ... I WILL NOT
NEED YOUR HELP!!!

If life happens to deliver a situation to
you that you cannot handle, do not
attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in
the SFGTD Box (something for God to
do). It will be addressed in My time, not
yours. Once the matter is placed into
the box, do not hold onto it.

Holding on or removal will delay the
resolution of your problem. If it is a
situation that you think you are capable
of handling, please consult me in prayer
to be sure that it is the proper resolution.

If you find yourself stuck in traffic, don't
despair. There are people in this world for
whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work, think
of the man who has been out of work for
years.

Should you despair over a relationship
gone bad, think of the person who has
never known what it's like to love and be
loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another
weekend, think of the woman in dire straits,
working twelve hours a day, seven days a
week to feed her children.

Should your car break down, leaving you
miles away from assistance, think of the
paraplegic who would love the opportunity to
take that walk.

Should you notice a new gray hair in the
mirror, think of the cancer patient in chemo
who wishes she had hair to examine.

Should you find yourself at a loss and
pondering what is life all about, asking what
is my purpose? Be thankful! There are those
who didn't live long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other
people's bitterness, ignorance, smallness or
insecurities, remember ... things could be worse.
You could be them!!!

Because I do not sleep nor do I slumber, there
is no need for you to lose any sleep. Rest, my
child.

If you need to contact me, I am only a prayer
away.

Love Eternally, The Lord your God

TREMBLING WITH JOY

“Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his
rule with trembling.” — Psalm 2:11

Rosh Hashanah has several other names,
one of which is “The Day of Judgment.” On
the Jewish New Year, every single person in
the world stands before God in judgment.
The previous year is taken into review, and
decisions are made regarding the year to come.

It was always hard for me to know how to relate
to Rosh Hashanah. On one hand, it is a day of
joy and celebration. We dress in our finest
clothing and share delicious meals with family
and friends. On the other hand, we spend half of
the time in prayer, contemplating that we are
being judged by the Master of the Universe.
That’s a pretty scary thought!

The psalmist sums up my ambivalence with
words that the Talmud associates with Rosh
Hashanah: “Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate
His rule with trembling.” Well … which is it? Are
we celebrating or are we trembling? It seems
awfully difficult to do both at the same time!

The process of moving from one location to
another can help us understand the words of the
psalm writer. Anyone who has moved houses
knows the process is no picnic, and for many
who have moved to Israel, where everything is
tiny compared to super-sized America, the
process also means downsizing in a major way.
You have to make decisions about every single
thing that you own. Do we really need it? Does
it serve a good purpose?

If you do a good job, you end up throwing a lot
of stuff out. The process of de-cluttering one’s life
and assessing one’s worldly possessions is
downright painstaking. But at the same time, it is
incredibly liberating. It’s painful, but at the same
time it is joyful. There is nothing more cathartic
than throwing junk out!

This process can help us better understand the Day
of Judgment. On Rosh Hashanah we tremble,
knowing that we are being judged. We are forced to
take stock of our inner world: Do I really want to
behave this way? Do I really want to be that kind of
person? Is this the direction I want my life going in?
We take note of all of the junk cluttering our minds
and interfering with our souls and we throw it out!
We say to God, “I’m getting rid of all that garbage!”

And you know what? It feels pretty good to go through
such a thorough cleansing. We feel lighter, clearer,
and yes – joyful.

THE POWER OF PRAYER

Scripture:

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask
in prayer, believe that you have received
it, and it will be yours." - Mark 11:24

Reflection:

Prayer is a powerful thing! We are so
lucky that we have a way to talk to God...
and that we know He listens. If there is
anything you need to talk to God about,
just pray to Him. There is no wrong way
to do it, it's just important that you try.
Praise God!

Prayer:

Dear Lord thank you for always being there,
for never giving up on me.  I thank you God
for always listening and caring for me.

ANGELS ON EARTH

“Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave this
message of the Lord to the people: ‘I am with
you,’ declares the Lord.” — Haggai 1:13

Think angels are confined to heaven? Think again!
Angels are all around us and you can be one too.
How? Be God’s messenger and feed the hungry.
Do His will and clothe the poor. Can you say some
comforting words to a sad-looking stranger? Or
give a child a hug?

Be somebody’s angel. It doesn’t matter that you
are human. In God’s eyes, and to the person that
you help, you are just as much an angel as those
spirits in the sky.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY

Scripture:
John 3:5-8
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.  6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit.  7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[c] must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
Reflection:
It has been an exciting day for me, for today I welcomed a family member into our family of God. What an exciting day for all of us for today a new birth has taken place, a life is changed, a family has grown. You know I have always wanted to be part of a large family. A family that was filled with joy, with pain, struggle, happiness and love. A family that shared their thoughts and feelings, their happiness and fears, their disappointments and victories.
I found this family, in biblical times this family was referred to "The Way". Since I have become part of this Christian family I have discovered the real meaning of what family is. I have discovered the true joy of love and happiness.
This Christian family is growing and today it has grown by one. A very important one a person who is close to me, a person who is very important to me, a person whom I love.
This person has been shown the light upon the path. He no longer walks in darkness but now has seen a great light.
Today he demonstrated for all to see his joy that he has found in his Savior Jesus Christ. Today he said yes to love and no to hate, he said yes to happiness and no to sadness, he said yes to compassion and no to apathy, he said yes to enlightenment and no to darkness, he said yes to togetherness endnote to loneliness, HE SAID YES TO JESUS CHRIST.
Welcome my brother in Christ, Welcome To The Family Of God!
Prayer:
Our dear heavenly Father, thank you for the joy of family, thank you for your love thank you for togetherness. Thank you Almighty God that today I have a new brother in Christ. Bless him, love him, and keep them safe. In the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN.

THE MAN WHO PLAYED GOD

"If anyone wants to be a follower of Mine, let
him renounce himself and take up his cross
and follow Me" (Mark 8:34).

Many years ago, a film called "The Man Who
Played God" was released. It featured the great
character actor, George Arliss, playing the part
of a prominent, rich musician. Because he was
losing his hearing, the musician became
embittered and cynical. Not only did he turn his
back on his friends, he turned his back on God.
He moved into a penthouse where he began to
learn the art of lip-reading. From his penthouse
window, overlooking a park, he would look through
a set of high-powered binoculars and try to read
people's lips. One day he concentrated on a young
man whose lips were moving in prayer. He
determined what it was the young man was praying
for and then dispatched his butler to deliver it to
him. On another occasion he read the lips of a
woman who was telling another about something
she needed and wanted desperately. Again, the
wealthy musician saw to it that the need was met.
And each time he performed one of these services,
the cynical musician would look heavenward and
laugh in God's face. He found it laughable that he
was playing God but didn't even believe in God. But
as time went by, and his eccentric method of meeting
people's needs continued, something strangely
wonderful began to happen. The man who played God,
found God. Through the game he was playing -- the
game of serving people's needs -- the very God he
didn't believe in became real to him, because God is
a God of service.

INTERACTION

God prefers our interaction with each other
to our interaction with Him. Not that He
doesn’t love prayer and Bible study; it’s
just that He loves it more when we take
what we’ve learned and put it into action.
The goal of spirituality is not to live in
ecstasy; it’s to live in reality – and make
real life better. Feelings and inspiration
must be translated into our actions.

When we serve others, we serve God.

A HUMBLE HEART

I loved Malcom’s prayer at church the other day.
Only 7 years old, he stood in front of 100 other
kids and prayed: “Jesus, thank You that some
of us get to play football and go to church, and
for safety on the ride here, and for forgiveness
of our sins, and for eternal life. We love You,
Jesus. Please don’t ever forget how much we
love You!”

It brought tears to my eyes as he expressed
his heart to God. As adults, we may tend to try
to polish our prayers a little, thinking that it will
sound better to God’s ears or to those around
us who might hear us. But I think God must
delight in hearing just what’s on His child’s heart.

What is on your mind? Thanks or burdens?
Whatever it is, your loving God wants to hear
your heart.

So lift up your heart to the heavens;
There’s a loving and kind Father there
Who offers release and comfort and peace
In the silent communion of prayer. —Anon.

The highest form of prayer comes from the depths of a humble heart.

A NEW WAY OF THINKING

Scripture:

Romans 13:1

13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities,
for there is no authority except that which God has
established.  The authorities that exist have been
established by God.

Reflection:

The concept that God would side with the poor and the
oppressed in their efforts to resist injustice, I have to
admit, is a new way of thinking for many people. The
idea that God might side with revolutionaries against
ruling establishments and governments is hard for many
people to accept. Going along with the above verse
Romans 13:1 is that those who ruled were ordained
by God to do so. However, given the options available
to poor people, have changed many peoples minds.
They have come to believe that a truly righteous God
would have to stand with the poor in their struggle for
justice.

That, for the sake of justice, God sides with the poor
and oppressed permeates the Scriptures. Any careful
reading of the Bible would lead one to this conclusion.
In the history of Israel, the Scriptures tell how, when Jews
found themselves enslaved in Egypt, God spoke to them
that he had heard their cries. The God of the Jews
declared Himself to be of God who would fight for them
and deliver them from their oppressors and would lead
them into the promise land.

Later in Israel's history, when the jews had become
established in the land of their own, their God again
revealed himself to be a God who champions the cause
of the poor and the oppressed. In the class struggles
that took place within the life of Israel, God again and
again showed that He stands with the downtrodden and
the weak. Whenever the rich and powerful made life
hard for the poor and the oppressed God would send
his prophets to rail against the perpetrators of suffering.
Whether it was Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, or Micah, the
cry was always the same: God expected justice from
His people more than anything. The prophetic
message from God is clear:

"He had showed thee,O man, what is good; and what
does the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and
to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God?
(Micah 6:8)

The New Testament picks up the same theme. The birth
of Jesus was heralded by the Virgin Mary, declaring
to the world that her Son would be the deliverer for the
socially disinherited and would bring hope for those
who had no hope

Luke 1:46-55

“My soul glorifies the Lord
47     and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49     for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
    holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
    from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
    remembering to be merciful
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”

The followers of Jesus preached and wrote the same message.
Certainly the book of James makes it clear that God is a God
who cannot tolerate the exploitation of the poor and the
oppression of the defenseless by those who have power and
wealth.

Now listen,  you rich people,  weep and wail  because of the
misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and
moths have eaten your clothes.   3 Your gold and silver are
corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your
flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.
4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers  who mowed
your fields are crying out against you. The cries  of the
harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.
(James 5:1 – 4)

GOD DOES NOT TOLERATE THE EXPLOITATION OF THE
POOR AND THE OPPRESSION OF THE DEFENSELESS BY
THOSE WHO HAVE POWER AND WEALTH.

HOW ABOUT YOU?!!!!!

(some excerpts taken from Tony Campolo's book
"Wake Up America")
